NPC’s response to PACAC inquiry into fundraising

In July 2015, following negative media coverage of direct fundraising methods within the charitable sector, the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee (PACAC) launched an inquiry into fundraising practice.

Drawing on over a decade of experience with charities, NPC has responded to PACAC’s consultation, providing recommendations for government, regulators and charities, with a specific call to protect the public’s trust in charitable organisations.

Charities, government and regulators have a difficult balance to strike, between taking steps which will reassure the public and allowing charities freedom to fundraise appropriately to deliver high quality work for their beneficiaries.
