Systemic approaches to strategy

About this event

This seminar will help you explore how to take a more systemic approach to organisational strategy, linked to NPC’s systems practice and strategy development.

Whether you’re working to support young people with their mental health or preventing reoffending in the criminal justice system, you can’t achieve your charitable mission alone. Organisational strategy processes often lead us to think about our missions in isolation, leading to reduced impact and duplication across the sector. We are all part of a wider system. And so, our strategies will be more impactful if they are informed by and developed with that wider system in mind.

We know that it can be difficult to understand the terminology and tools used in systems thinking. But there are practical ways to bring systems thinking into how you develop and implement your strategy.

What will we cover?

  • Introduce practical ways to take a more systemic approach to strategy development
  • Explore different models for how organisations can pursue “systems change” through their strategies
  • Reflect on the barriers preventing organisations from adopting more systemic approaches and share learning about how to overcome these challenges.

Who is it for?

This session is for those leading strategy functions within their organisation who are relatively new to “systems thinking”. You might be a CEO, trustee or strategy professional. There will be an opportunity to share your experiences and ask questions of the team.

The training will be hosted by our strategy expert, Naomi Chapman. Naomi will be joined by Rosanna Thomasoo, Associate Director at Young Lives vs Cancer, providing a case study of taking a systemic approach in practice.

Accessibility

We are actively working to improve the accessibility of our online and in-person events. As part of our commitment, for all online events we use live closed captions and upload the recordings to YouTube which has the capability to select subtitles. For in-person events we strive to use accessible venues. If you have any additional accessibility requirements that we can assist with, please email us at Events@thinkNPC.org.
