Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in grant-making

About this event

Organisations led by and for marginalised communities have historically been underfunded. Unless we change our grant-making practices, they are likely to remain underfunded, and civil society will lose out because of it.

The power dynamics in grant-making are often imbalanced. Diverse, equitable, and inclusive grant-making is therefore about who makes the decisions, where we get our evidence, and who is missing from the conversation.

Drawing on our guide, ‘How to make your grant-making diverse, equitable and inclusive’, this session will look at how funders and philanthropists can:

  • Understand what DEI means to them and why it is important to their work
  • Plan goals and focus areas, and your approach to these
  • Source partners and opportunities
  • Strengthen organisations through trust and support
  • Strengthen the sector through learning and sharing

This session is for anyone looking to embed Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) into their grant-making practice, whether you are starting out on your journey, or have already begun and looking to deepen your understanding. There will be an opportunity to share your experiences and ask questions of the team.
