Philanthropy has never been so important to address the complex social and environmental issues we face. In this report, we highlight ten exciting innovations from around the world which are helping to grow philanthropy both in scale and by ensuring resources are used most effectively.
10 innovations in global philanthropy
Concepts worth spreading in the UK
We have worked with the world’s leading philanthropy experts to identify and select these ground-breaking approaches which have the potential to make the biggest impact on how philanthropy works. We selected initiatives that we believe will really make a difference to the sector—rather than those that are fun and interesting but less transformative.
The innovations have emerged from across the world: they are drawn from countries where philanthropy is already developed, such as the US and Canada, as well as those where it is at a different stage, such as India.
Our 10 innovations in global philanthropy:
- Shell Foundation lessons learned report
- Knight Prototype Fund
- Dasra Giving Circles
- Edge Fund
- KL Felicitas Foundation
- Goodstart deal
We would like to see these innovations replicated or scaled up in the UK. And we would also like to see new innovations emerging. For this to happen, we believe that greater openness, bolder leadership and a more confident approach to trying new approaches is needed.
We welcome your feedback and would be interested in hearing from other organisations and individuals who share our passion for innovation and philanthropy. Please get in touch via info@thinkNPC.org or tweet @NPCthinks using the hashtag #10innovations.
