After Dame Louise Casey’s recent warning that Britain was facing a ‘perfect storm of awfulness,’ we invited her to speak at an NPC Q&A event on 2 December 2020. The coronavirus pandemic has rightly been dominant in everyone’s mind of late but so too are the extreme inequalities in society that this crisis has held a mirror up to. Dame Louise has called on the government to provide more help for the vulnerable, as hunger, homelessness and unemployment rise, and at this event we heard more about her current and past work on poverty in Britain. Dame Louise shared her thoughts on the role that the social sector can play in tackling the issue of inequality in this country, through and beyond this crisis, and provided recommendations for the sector on collaboration and campaigning. You can watch the recording of our event below.
