Rethinking and rebuilding the charity sector post-pandemic
21 September 2021 1 minute read
We have launched the next phase of our Rethink, Rebuild programme. This initiative is about rethinking how charity and philanthropy operate and rebuilding together as we emerge from this crisis. Through workshops, conversations, and our NPC Labs site, we’ve brought together over 300 voices from charities, funders, and others in the social sector, and from this we have developed five ideas for the future of charity and philanthropy. At an event on 16 September 2021, we introduced these five ideas and discussed them with a panel of charity experts.
Our event was chaired by Albert Tucker, a Trustee of NPC, and our speakers were, Lord Victor Adebowale, Co-Founder and Chairman of Visionable, former Chief Executive of Turning Point, current Chair of the NHS Confederation and one of the first individuals to become a People’s Peer; Dr Kaneez Shaid, Head of Community Engagement at Rethink Mental Illness; Juliet Mountain, Director of Shaw Trust; Leah Davis, Head of Policy and External Affairs at NPC; and Seth Reynolds, Principal: Systems Change at NPC. Our ideas focus on equitable collaboration, a systemic approach to charity strategy, getting the balance right between trust and impact measurement in philanthropy, shared intelligence, and social recovery.
