Introduction to impact measurement
About this event
This online workshop is for charities who want to effectively evaluate and measure their impact, but struggle with getting the right data. This introductory workshop is particularly geared towards small and medium-sized charities.
The workshop will:
- Start with discussing why charities should measure their impact, followed by a brief summary of good impact practice.
- We will then focus the majority of the time on how to design your impact measurement and data collection in such a way that it will help you understand how your programme or service is working and how you can make it better.
- We will draw on NPC’s five types of data framework, which are fundamental for monitoring and evaluating services or programmes. The five types of data progress from routine data that you should always be collecting (user, engagement and feedback data), through to data that you will only collect occasionally (outcomes and impact data). We will discuss the importance of each type of data, the type of questions to ask, as well as possible appropriate measures to obtain the different types of data.
- The workshop will end with some practical tips on how to keep your data collection proportionate, and some tools and tech that can help boost your efficiency.
This workshop will be interactive and limited in capacity, so there will be plenty of opportunities to ask your questions. This training will be lead by Erwin Hieltjes-Rigamonti. No preparation is necessary.
This event is part of our Leading Impact series of seminars. A limited number of bursary places are available for small charities, ethnic minority charities of all sizes and ethnic minority representatives from charities of all sizes. Bursary spaces are available on a first come, first served basis. Email us to apply for our bursary places.
We are also actively working to improve the accessibility of our online and in-person events. As part of our commitment, for all online events we use live closed captions and upload the recordings to YouTube which has the capability to select subtitles. For in-person events we strive to use accessible venues.
