What trustees need to know about AI
About this event
Whether we like it or not, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has firmly established its roots in today’s society. Tools like Copilot and ChatGPT are becoming commonplace in our everyday lives—and the charity sector is no exception. As large funders like the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation and The National Lottery Community Fund go public with guidance on using AI in funding applications, opportunities for charities to adopt AI keep emerging.
Are charities equipped to make the most of these opportunities, and do they know the potential risks? Charity Digital reports that 65% of charities see AI developments as relevant to them, yet only 22% feel prepared to respond to associated opportunities and challenges. Trustees have a crucial role to play in preparing charities to adapt to AI and should understand the risks involved.
What will we cover?
This 1-hour webinar will cover the need-to-knows for trustees to consider when planning for and adapting to AI approaches. Guided by the experience of charity experts, we will explore:
- What AI means for the charity sector
- How trustees can support their charities to make the most of AI opportunities and manage associated risks
- How to centre diversity, equity and inclusion in AI practices.
Speakers
We are delighted to be joined by Yasmin Ibison, Senior Policy Advisor at the Joseph Rowntree Foundation; Kieran John, Managing Associate at Mishcon de Reya, and Gabriela Caldera‑Cabral, Head of Technology Services at Parkinson’s UK. The webinar will be chaired by Tris Lumley.
Who is it for?
This event is free and open to all trustees, with a particular focus on those of small and medium-sized organisations. Whether you are starting your research into AI, or at the beginning stages of adopting it, this event is for those early on in their journey.
