Following on from the publication of Tech for common good, NPC’s call for collaborative approaches to developing digital technology for social impact, we are in the process of putting theory into practice by taking a collaborative approach to tech in different thematic areas.
My best life: Priorities for digital technology in the youth sector is our first practical piece of work taking this approach, from the perspective of young people facing multiple disadvantage in Camden, London.
NPC is also in the process of scoping a parallel initiative to identify and tackle priorities for digital technology to improve the pathways to employment of young women in Kenya and India. We are in the early stages of this process, aiming to conduct user mapping and research with local partners in Kenya and India over the coming year. The output of this phase of work would be a research publication, similar to My best life.
Following the user research, NPC’s plan is then to fundraise to create a pooled fund for investing in the priorities identified, to prototype, test and develop tech solutions, working collaboratively with charities in the field.
