Evaluation and learning for funders

Key principles and approaches

About this event

Evaluation and learning for funders: key principles and approaches.

Finding the right balance between flexibility and rigour is a challenge many funders face in evaluating and learning about their funding programmes. This 1.5-hour seminar will explore approaches that help funders to understand what their grants are achieving and develop insights to inform their practice.

The seminar will involve a presentation, Q&A, and space to share your experiences and learn from others. Topics will include:

  • Principles of impact measurement.
  • Linking your theory of change to data collection and evidence.
  • Common challenges and trade-off’s in building your measurement approach.
  • Closing the loop – using insights to learn and improve.

Who is this for?

The seminar is designed as an introduction to key principles and approaches for funders. It is suitable for those just starting out in evaluation and learning, or those with some experience who wish to review and think critically about their practice.

Event facilitator

The training is delivered by Amina Ali, NPC’s Principal: Funder Evaluation and Learning. Our consultants are experts in supporting foundations, corporates and individual philanthropists in designing, implementing and assessing their giving.
