State of the Sector 2024
About this event
At our State of the Sector 2024 launch event we shared the findings of NPC’s research on the opinions of charity leaders and charity users on a range of current topics, and discuss the implications for the sector and relationships with government in a general election year.
We were joined for a keynote address by Thangam Debbonaire MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, who shared her reflections on the research and plans for working with the charity sector, as well as Matt Downie, Chief Executive of Crisis and Anne Taylor, expert by experience at Crisis.
About State of the Sector
State of the Sector is a robust, sampled survey of charity leaders’ opinion on topics including:
- relationships with government and what our respondents want to see after the election,
- contracting,
- biggest risks facing the sector,
- geographic inequalities in charity support,
- diversity,
- user involvement,
- digital and data capacity.
We have been running this survey since 2017, and this is the third iteration allowing us to look at ‘distance travelled’ across a range of metrics.
For the first time this year, we have asked a parallel set of questions to those who use charity services, allowing us to compare and contrast their views on charities with those of charity leaders on a range of topics and draw out areas of similarity and differences.
State of the Sector is generously supported by the Charities Aid Foundation, PwC and Odgers Berndtsten.
Accessibility
We are actively working to improve the accessibility of our online and in-person events. As part of our commitment, for all online events we use live closed captions and upload the recordings to YouTube which has the capability to select subtitles. For in-person events we strive to use accessible venues. If you have any additional accessibility requirements that we can assist with, please email us at Events@thinkNPC.org.
