Alex is a Senior Consultant working with charities and funders to address the challenges they face and increase their impact. He is passionate about the value that digital can bring to the charity sector and has experience of managing digital transformation and innovation programmes; advising on policy for open data, information governance and AI; and evaluating digital initiatives. As a part time sociologist, he has published on gender, race and online abuse, antivaxxer memes, and presented at multiple international conferences on digital innovation and evaluation.
Prior to joining NPC, Alex worked in the Culture and Society division of the Wellcome Trust, the UK’s largest grant making charity, across areas including research funding, public engagement, education policy, strategy, governance, and Wellcome Collection (Wellcome’s public museum and library). As a freelance consultant, he has worked with the Open University, the Centre for Data Ethics, the Microbiology Society, the Web Science Trust and UKCDR. As well as qualifications in UX design and Agile project management, Alex has a BA in Design and an MSc in Digital Sociology.
