Rosario Piazza

Rosario is responsible for leading NPC’s work on data in consultancy and innovation, and for providing thought leadership on innovative ways in which data can improve the sector’s effectiveness. Rosario’s responsibilities include the ongoing development of NPC’s Data Labs and the Interactive Covid-19 data for charities and funders, data analysis and skills implementation, as well as promoting data-driven decision-making throughout the sector.

Rosario has more than 10-years of experience in applied quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and a passion for the creative use of data and impact evaluation frameworks aimed at proving the short, medium and long-term impact of the charity sector.

Rosario was previously an Impact and Evaluation manager at Buttle UK, one of the biggest grant-making charities in the UK and, prior to that, he was the Policy and Research Officer at West London Zone (WLZ), a place-based initiative that supports disadvantaged children and young people. Furthermore, Rosario has experience of working with the performance and information teams of local authorities, social services and state-funded educational institutions.

Rosario has a strong interest in user voice, fair use of data, and social inclusion, as well as in impact measurement and evaluation, theory of change, geo-spatial analysis, forensic and behavioural psychology, and the criminal justice system.

Before joining the charity sector, Rosario worked for several UK market research companies, including TNS Global and Kantar, where he was responsible for designing and running various survey projects, as well as for the analysis of Key Performance Indicators (KPI). Rosario has also conducted research projects for the departments of Forensic Anthropology and Criminology at the universities of Palermo and Camerino in Italy.
