About this event
Levelling Up and civil society—how the sector tackles regional inequalities around the country
At this event we will be joined by Alex Norris MP – Shadow Minister for Levelling Up, Caroline Slocock: Director, Civil Exchange, Sultan Ali: Social Prescribing Link Worker, Rochdale Health Alliance and Pam Burniston: Area Manager, Porchlight, to launch NPC’s new report on the role civil society plays in tackling regional inequalities.
Civil society plays a crucial role all over the country in improving health, supporting people into employment and building social capital which leads to thriving communities. However, this key role has often been overlooked.
At this event we will hear about:
- What role civil society plays in tackling inequalities and laying the foundations for economic success.
- How charity income and coverage in priority levelling up areas compares to the rest of the country.
- What role civil society could play given more support in three areas of the country: Thanet, Heywood and Nottingham.
